Cursor jumps when Right or Middle Mouse click

    First time here, hurray!

Anyways, I've had this problem with my mouse since I upgraded to windows 7.
Whenever I'm playing a game, or anything fullscreen and I right click or click the middle mouse button, the cursor jumps across my screen, sometimes down or to the left. and sometimes, both.

I want to avoid buying a new mouse. Any suggestions?

Hi! Scraggarax, welcome to 7F :)

Have you checked your pointer settings in Control Panel\mouse\pointer options?

Make sure snap-to is un-checked, and you may want to set the pointer motion to about half-way....on the slider bar.

Double checked. They are both set that way, still the same effect.
This only happens when a game is ran. Even if it's in a window.

    In the meantime.........

    Some things to try:

Shiny mousing surface like glass or highly polished wood? Try a dark solid color mousepad.
Using a patterned mousepad? Try a dark solid color mousepad.
Or if your mousing surface isn't shiny, don't use a mousepad at all.

Make sure the laser is clean. Use a burst of compressed air to clean around the laser.
Mechanical mouse, open the trackball cover, and clean the ball with Isopropyl alcohol. make sure guide bars inside have no gunk on them.

Third-party software that could possibly interfere with the mouse? Possibly something relating to the graphical desktop environment? Theming software?

Update your video card drivers. If you have an OEM machine (HP, Dell, Gateway etc.) get the drivers from the OEM's website. Or if Nvidia or ATI, get drivers from their website.

Mouse is on a Black surface, it isn't the mouse laser since this only occurs In-Game.

Mouse is a NexXtech Wireless 2.4GHz Optical Mouse
All Drivers are up to date.

Do you have good batteries installed?, and a direct line to the wireless pick-up?

Don't forget 'bout reflections or bounce points that can skew your signal.

    Same problem

I know this thread is a bit old, but I have exactly the same problem. Something I noticed: It's only when running game applications that use the DirectX 11 renderer, when playing the game in DirectX 9 mode the mouse functions normally, but I have reduced graphics.

I only get this problem when right clicking in DirectX 11 games, and the mouse always jumps down and to the left at a 45 degree angle.

Make sure that the automatic mouse positioning is UNCHECKED ( Disabled)

This can cause problems with some things.
