    Suddenly, blank screen

Twice over the last couple of days, my screen suddenly went totally blank (it's not blue). I've had to turn it on manually and click on "Start Windows Normally." Maybe this is to generic or vague a problem to diagnose, but does anybody have an idea why this is happening. It's scary. ec

    Hi ellenc,

Does it happen whilst you are using your PC? I presume its not going ito hibernation or sleep mode after a few hours of inactivity?

Can you open a Command Prompt, and run this command please:

    sfc /scannow

It can take some time, so be patient with that - it tests the integrity of your system files, which may, or may not, be the cause of your problems.

    Just crashed again

I just posted about my monitor going blank twice recently including a few minutes ago. After I posted, my machine froze up again the the screen had strips on it. I manually shut down again and when it came up, I clicked on fixing Windows problems. It's back up again but I' freaked over this bizarre behavior of my pc. I have a Windows repair disk handy just in case. Fortunately, I didn't have to use it to bring the system up again. What does it mean when the monitor has strips and it's locked up? ec

Run the sfc /scannow command, and lets take it from there.
