Shutdown - Force (using the shut down button)

This is starting to drive me nuts sometimes. I remote into my desktop at home from work sometimes and depending on applications, when I go for a reboot or shut the PC down, it hangs and I can't remote back in. A few days ago I waited 5 hours and had to go home to click "Force shutdown" on the prompt that Windows 7 had waiting for me.

This is sort of annoying, I can't always reboot or shut down a remote PC because of applications hanging. Is there something in the registry that I can change to where when I shut down or reboot, everything forces a close?

I've used Ultimate Windows Tweaker for vista and 7 to change the waiting period to 0, but it doesn't ever save.

I don't have the fix you are looking for, but this may help find the program that is causing the problem.

Thanks, I already know which applications are doing this but I would like it to force shutdown despite knowing which applications are doing it. Sometimes I just don't want to close them down manually.

    Hello Altjx,

You might see if using the Shut Down shortcut below may be able to help. It includes the -F switch to force a shut down.

Thanks, I'm sure of how to use command prompt and the cmd's shutdown switches, just thought I could integrate this into the button itself.
