How can i format this drive now!?

    I have 3 HDD partitions, C,D and E
Yesterday my Windows got covered with High Risked Trojans, KeyLoggers and Spywares. Then i decided to install a fresh copy of windows.
i installed windows 7 on my E drive without any installation disk (As i don't have any DVD/CD Rom). Now there are two windows 7 in my HDD, One in Drive C and other in Drive E. Now i want to format drive C because its not usable now. Bt whenever i format it, it says "Windows was unable to complete the format".
Please Guys help me, how can i format this drive now? also if there are any softwares that formats drives , please let me know.
    Thanks

Hi Dartz and welcome to the Forum.
You don't say how you installed the new copy of Windows 7. Were you running any A/V, Malware, protection when you got infected? How do you know the "E" partition is clean? Your specs show you have a very small hard drive. What size are the four partitions?

    Hi there

Download something like Partition Magic or GPARTED. These can be booted from a USB stick which your computer CAN boot from at the boot menu.

Press F2 or DEL or some specific key to get into the BIOS menu when you start your computer. You can then set the boot order and devices.

If I were you I'd FORMAT the WHOLE DRIVE and start again with a totally clean install of Windows. NOW SAVE AN IMAGE OF THIS in case you get infected again as it will only take around 10 mins to restore with a decent backup program such as ACRONIS or MACRIUM.

    Cheers

You might want to open disk management and look to see which drive or partition is your boot drive. If your boot files are on the C:/ drive, and you formate it, you won't be able to boot into windows. When you boot up do you get a menu asking you to select which version of windows you want to boot up to? If you do I would bet that your boot loader is on the C drive.

EDIT: Unless, that is, you have that hidden 100 meg system partition.

There are a couple of things you can do. EasyBCD will get around the BIOS' inability to boot to USB. Or maybe a BIOS flash would do it. But first I would run a ChkDsk on partition C, to find why it's not taking a format. Probably the easiest and best way around this is to buy a larger drive as the new primary drive, and keep the other for storage. Those partitions are too small for most working Win7 installations.
