Windows 7 - Folders won't open in the same window. |

Folders won't open in the same window. Hello everyone,
I recently installed the new pack of updates from Windows Update, and since then, I've been having an issue where my Folders will open in new windows, rather than in the same window, as a double-click should initiate. I have already checked in the Folder Options and they are checked to open in the same window, I tried flipping it the other way and back too, this had no effect. I am curious if perhaps something has gone wrong with the registry during the update? Any ideas would be helpful, as this is terribly annoying.
Thanks!

I tried restoring to before the critical update that happened on 12/14, and I still am having issues, I rechecked and the option to open in the same window is still checked. | My System Specs

Hello Zouri, and welcome to Seven Forums.
You might see if one or all of the options in the tutorial below may be able to help you open the folders in the same window again. Open each Folder in the Same or Own Separate New Window
Hope this helps,

Brink,
I tried to fix the issue using RegEdit, however my value in the 5th column was already 0A, I changed it, and updated the registry that way anyway, and still am having the same issue. I have restarted the computer since updating the registry also.

Zouri,
As a test, create a new administrator account to see if it may work properly while logged on to it. If so, then you copy all of the contents of the old user account's C:\Users\(user-name) folders (including hidden AppData folder) into the corresponding new account's C:\Users\(user-name) folder. After everything checks out ok, you can delete the old user account while logged in the new user account. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

Brink,
I just tried creating a new administrator account, and that didn't work either, the option was checked in the new administrator account to have them open in the same window, and I checked the registry as well, and tried that.
Still no luck | My System Specs

If you have a retail copy of Windows 7, then you could do a repair install to fix it without losing anything. It's a bit more involved, but it should work for you since the other items above didn't. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2
