    Taskbar icons invisible

    I have windows 7 64 bit ultimate.
Since a couple of days the icons on the taskbar are invisible.
When i pin an icon on the taskbar it won't become visible.
But according to windows the icon is allready on the taskbar because after right clicking a program i can only choose "unpin from taskbar"
I have this strange problem say one day after i installed windows.
I use windows 7 more than a year and it never happend before.
I have tried everything.I pinned and unpinned icons several times.I locked and unlocked the taskbar. The icons next to the clock are visible.
It's just the icons next to the windows button that don't show.
I emailed microsoft some days ago and havn't heard an answer yet.
Is anyone familiar with this strange problem?
    Thanks in advance.

A restart might get them back, or the other solution is to unlock the taskbar (right-click it and make sure 'lock the taskbar' is unchecked) and then hover on the edge til you get the double sided arrow to resize, then resize it a little.

    Welcome to Sevenforums.

This may be what you need. Use Option one. See if the box in the tutorial is unchecked. You want the box checked.

    Resizing the taskbar didn't work.
And i don't understand what you mean by a restart.
    Thanks.

Restart I just meant boot. I had better hopes for my other suggestion.

Unfortunatley it didn't work.I even used option 3 by downloading the reg file.
I think it's probably an error in the registry.
But i'm not a computer whiz kid either.

I was thinking that they may have been hidden and you can make them visible.
I was thinking that perhaps another user had done something to hide them.

You may want to try a system restore and see if that works.
    System Restore

but try this first and see if there are any errors and if they can be fixed
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Before that problem occured i didn't make a recovery point.Auto system backup was then disabled. So there is nothing to recover in this case.
Ok i did the command system file checker. It says that it found some damages, and also says that they can't all be recoverd.
CMD provided me the CBS.log tekst file. The size of that tekst file is 1.58 mb.So it's very long.Looking at the file it kinda shows every step i did on the pc if i'm right.
But i see the dates start from 2010-12-16.
So that's only 2 days. This problem occured more than a week ago.
