    Raid1 ssd & hdd

I have an Intel 80GB SSD (bootable OS win7 installed) and a WD 500GB HDD(storage and backup).

Is it possible to mirror my SSD onto an 80GB volume on my HDD using W7's RAID1? If so, do I suffer a performance hit on my read/write speeds in W7 on my SSD? Thanks

In theory this could be done, but in practice I wouldn't. Mirroring an SSD to an ordinary HDD drive will kill any speed and performance advantages that you currently have with the SDD as data transfers cannot exceed the maximum speed of the slowest drive in an array.

Don't bother with a RAID 1 mirror. Instead, run a piece of software that does an image (Macrium, Paragon, Acronis, whatever) and run frequent images.
