Does this happen every time it is over a click-able item, or is it just some of the time?

Hi, ruizd, welcome to the Seven Forums! :)

Set your mouse for double clicking on items instead of single clicking.

mike I tried the settings that you suggested, and it still auto clicking it opens un wanted pages or if i'm doing something important i would lose that page, if I'm not quick enough to move the cursor

Hmmm, sorry. Sounds like it might be tied to an Accessibility setting. I have never used them but we have a great group of members here. Hold tight, ruizd, I'm sure your issue will be solved in short order.

Welcome to Seven Forums ruizd. See the answers suggested in the link. I don't have a laptop, so my desktop down't have these settings mentioned, but hopefully this is your fix:

In Windows 7, whenever I hover over things, the mouse automatically selects items or follows links without me clicking. How do I stop this?

If that doesn't seem to work, let us know if you can hear the mouse button click (being a mouse problem) or if it just does it on its own.

That is not uncommon for laptops. I would disable the touchpad and use a mouse. You could also change the sensitivity of the touchpad. The problem seems to be that the touchpad goes off when are only close to it.

I dont have a laptop but i use one in collage and was havin a similar problem. when typing or anything it would jump to where ever the pointer was and start typing there instead. very very annoying. think its just because the touch pad is so sensitive any lil brush off it would count as a click. was testing it to see and and sometimes ya dont even need to touch it, just get close.

if ya cant solve the problem with links above i would just disable it all together and get a usb mouse! thats what i had to do!
