In the snip below you will see that I am now down to 2 disks, I get a pop-up saying the SYSTEM disk cannot be deleted (snip #2) and there is absolutely no option to delete disk (C).

You can't delete that it is part of Windows 7.
I told you to follow the steps I posted so I hope you didn't need HP Tools. LOL
All right. I'll find the tutorial I used to set up my XP dual boot.
LOL No, HP Tools is just junk that came on it from the store. The Disk (D) I was a bit worried about so I put it onto a thumb drive.
But as far as I can tell, by that tutorial I believe that I'm kinda stuck with a dynamic Disk 0. Being that I cannot delete the volumes to convert them to basic.
Don't do anything else.
I'm going to get some help. Your okay I just don't want to tell you wrong. There is a way to convert from dynamic to basic without deleting everything.
I found it in Option 3 on the convert dynamic to basic. I just want to be sure there isn't an easier way.
Okay, thanks! I really appreciate it a lot!
As usual undoing is harder than doing.
If no help arrives we will need to go to Option Three

and make this disk.

Let's see if help comes for a few minutes.
I sent a message to the writer of the tutorial.
I'm going to explain this as best I can so you are aware of consequences.
You make the Free disk and follow it. BEST FREE Partition Manager Software for Windows supports all 32-bit & 64 bit Windows No-server OS.
It will delete everything off the drive. Nothing will be saved.
Follow the directions in the tutorial after you make the disk to convert back to Basic.
You then use the HP recovery disks to reinstall everything. The Compaq manual will tell you how to do this.
It will be something like Put in Disk #1 start tappping F8 or similar and then choose to install etc.
Hopefully the disks are good they made you.
Never done this particular thing before myself but it has been done.
You will be back to 4 partitions as when you brought it home with Basic Disk.
So you will not go to you tube!
Come back here and we will do it right.
You delete as you did the two and we will make a partiton for the XP to go on without making Dynamic disks.
Realize this if the Recovery disks are bad you have no Windows to reinstall.
Your using a different computer at the moment to get online right?
Mike
I'm using both the computer we're talking about and my personal laptop at the moment. And I have two other computers in the house.
I'll wait a while to hopefully hear back from the writer of the tutorial. If the recovery disks are bad then I'd say that Future Shop would owe me recovery disks, but regardless I'd rather not have to go that route if there is another option.
That is all I find.
Gregrocker is on line and I sent him a message. That is who I was looking for.
