No problem here, but then I do not install the OSs on partitions on the same drive. I install each OS on a separate hard drive, while all other hard drives are disconnected, and use the F8 boot menu to select which to boot to.

well, i have read about problems with grub being in the mbr
so i put grub in the linux partition and added a line to the windows boot manager to direct it to grub

i really have a feeling that its nothing to do with the setup, i think my problem is with either my hard drive or windows 7 itself

backing up all data right now and then i will run manufacturer hdd diagnostics

GRUB can corrupt Win7 if installed on the same HD, even make it irreparable.

It's best to put Linux distros on separate HD booted via BIOS Boot Menu or Boot Order and not use GRUB.
