Home Basic uses less ram than ultimate?

Is it true HomeBasic uses like 200mb and Ultimate like 500 mb?

I have only 1gb of ram but I don't want to go back to XP

There is a difference but Ultimate will run under 1 gig I did just that for 5 months. The amount of ram usage depends on what services you run in both but I suspect the difference is maybe 100 Mb if that.

Update you ram by adding more. Using home basic is no different then using XP. Ram is fairly cheap now days.

Please do us a big favor and go to the "CP" section (located at the top of each page), and fill in your computers information. This will help us help you. If we know your system it makes it easier for members here on the Forums to give you better advice/information on your needs.

This information will show up in the "My System Specs" located in the left hand corner of your post. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

No, it is not true. Home Basic would actually be worse because it does not have Aero.
