Need Vista OSK on Win 7

Hello, i'd like to use the On-Screen Keyboard (OSK) from Windows Vista on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I copied the osk.exe from my Vista computer onto my Windows 7, but when i run it, i get the following error:

A referral was returned from the server

Is there some other file i must copy? Or is something else i need to do? Some help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Seskanda,

Windows 7 has it's own on-screen keyboard that you could use instead if you like.

    Hope this helps,

I do NOT wish to use Windows 7 on-screen keyboard, its too dark and big for me. I would like to use OSK from Vista, what does "A referral was returned from the server" mean? I turned off UAC and restarted, and when i click osk.exe from Vista, the one from Win 7 opens, what's going on here??

I've had a look at this, and I don't think that there is a way to get the Vista OSK to work in Windows 7, sorry.

However, you can adjust some of the parameters, such as size, in the registry at the following location:

Need Vista OSK on Win 7-capture.png

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Osk

The minimum values for the size parameters are as follows (default values shown above):

    WindowHeight Hexadecimal: ac Decimal: 172
    WindowWidth Hexadecimal: 321 Decimal: 801

If you want to make it even smaller, you can turn off the number pad by setting ShowNumPad to 0

All changes take place immediately, however you need to close the OSK and reopen it for them to become visible.

Well, luckily, the On-Screen keyboard from XP works fine in 7. I think i'll stick with it, since its 90% same as Vista. Also, the numeric pad has NO effect on the size of the program, just the keys. And width can NOT be adjusted for me at all.
