yes, because it takes setup files from VHD, so you are basicly runing setup for upgrade from VHD build and not from build that you have iso from.

I could try to run that kind of ISO to upgrade an older version. The 7201 maybe. Do you think it could worked ?
yes i know this is possible, however you cant "save" in to iso that instalation should run that file in compatiblity mode... or can you ? :P

Any ideas how i can upgrade that version as there is not a true 7231 installer. I just get the error "You are running a newer version of Windows".

Any ideas?

Ok worked out how to do the upgrade, really easy.
Just run setup as compatible mode for Vista SP2. Has to be SP2 though then upgrade works, does not check for later builds. Oh I also never let the installer get updated install files.
Will report back if it finishes ok.

How to Upgrade 7229 or 7231 to 7260

This took me a while to figure out. Now this has already been done. The Admin can simply delete this msg.
1. I tested my own ISO. 7229loader with 7260.vhd
2. tested with several known 7229loaders with 7260.vhd.
All failed to install with either
a. Newer version already installed.
b. This version can not be upgraded.
c. This version is non-compatible and instantly stops.
----------------------------------------------------------------
My Way.
1. uncompress your iso to x:\new7260
2. open sources\cversion.ini with notepad.
3. modify to read:
Code:

[HostBuild]
MinClient=7260.0
MinServer=7100.0
4. move back to setup.exe
5. open properties (change to x Run as Admin - change to compatible mode Vista SP2)
6. apply and exit
REBOOT. so you are 100% positive none of the old is in memory.

open x:\new7260 click setup.exe and when ask enter any old legit RC Key.

Great but found you don't need to change cversion. ini whe run as Vista SP2 asI said earlier.

Who installed it? What are the differences with 7229 and 7100?

7100 is an older build, and because of this, you can't do an upgrade (well, couldn't...)
7227 is more recent than 7100 and can be upgraded easily

If you talking about the upgrade from 7229 x86 to 7260, I posted the way I modified and installed. Seems by others I also do a way is not needed. but anyway That is what I did and it worked for me.

I'm upgrading 7231 to 7260 now, Vasilli has different iso's available on Torrents.ru.

Just installs as normal, no need to select compatability mode.
