Windows 7: "customize notification area" change

"customize notification area" change

when did this happen? i just noticed it works differently in 7229. instead of getting a big list with drop-down menus, you just drag/drop icons in and out of the pop-up window to make them always visible...

no way, on 7100 it's the big list. i'm sure of it.

yeah i had to go into the context-sensitive help there in the new dialog to learn about drag-drop. it's not very intuitive, but once you know the trick, it's a great way to do it

Cool, as in useful for me

You can also re-arrange the order of the icons, hidden or shown, and this arrangement seems to be persistent.

getting rid of "Notification Area Icons" that are now N/A
how can I remove from the "Notification Area Icons" list those icons that no longer exist? (in this case, it isn't an uninstalled program, but modules and download windows that were sent to the tray and now remain listed...as though they were programs themselves about which I might still want...
Customization
Customize notification area bug.
If you have an app that has/had a system tray icon, the option to hide it etc. remains in Customize Notification Area Icons after the program has been uninstalled. :geek:
