    Start menu search problem

    Hi,
My grandmother's laptop's upgraded from vista to seven, working fine. Now she does not use that many things, but when I click the start orb and I search, like typing mail he says "explorer does not work anymore", or something like that translated from Dutch

This also happens when I open configuration panel.

    Any ideas?

Chances are, she caught a nasty in her email. I would try the following to be on the safe side

Get the free version of this one and run it up to 3 times or until it can't find any more threads

    Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes

then open an elevated command prompt and run a sfc/scannow like described here:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    -DG

You could also open Windows task manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and in the processes tab make sure Windows explorer is running.
