Windows 7: PC Support

I do pc support as a side job as-well, sorry if this is not the place to post it. But recently i got a job for someone sending me 10 computers at once. I dont know what i could get in trouble for or sued, but what is good for them to sign as a disclaimer, what should i write as one, i need to start doing this....? have any of you had this issue or needed to do something like this?

Are they sending you the computers via mail, or is it going to be dropped off by your client?

I would write a disclaimer along the lines of what work exactly, is going to be done to the systems.

For example:
For each of the systems delivered to x, the following work will be completed, and verified by y
1. Clean format, deletion of all previous data
2. Case internals dusted out with compressed air
3. Fresh copy of Windows X installed with license sticker on each system
4. x Software installed
5. y Software installed
6. System burn-in test for 24 hours

etc...

edit: it might also help if you had a sheet with a checklist for each system to help keep yourself organized and to verify that each system has been completed. It's also very professional I think.

i put this together for her so far, i wanted a disclaimer at the bottom, they are being sent from panama city, to a guy i dont know who is going to bring them to me, and than pick them up when when we are done.

Work Order:
1. Format HD, Install Win XP SP2 (1hr/PC)
2. Software Install (1hr/PC)
3. Cleaning (30mins -1hr/PC)
4. Diagnostic (2hrs)
5. Recommendations (30mins -1hr/PC)
a. Driver Updates

Format HD, Install Win XP SP2 (1hr/PC)
Formatting hard drive and installing Win XP should take about 1hr each computer. These are both done at the same time; we will do a full format to get rid of any information on the original Operating System.

Software Install (MS Office, AVG, Adobe Acro) (1hr/PC)
Installing Office, security and adobe, we estimate about 1hr each computer.

Cleaning (30mins -1hr/PC)
Laptop cleaning of the keyboard, screen and other case.
Depending on if keys need to be removed on some, and wiped down on some. Full dusting off and cleaning we expect to take 30min- 1 hr.

Diagnostic (2hrs)
Diagnostics of the entire system after to check hard, CD Rom, floppy, etc…
We can run a disk check, memory 86 tests, and CPU stress test. We can also test the floppy drive manually. We expect all these to take 1hr on site, and 3-4 hours of offsite scanning. So we will charge 2hrs for this

Recommendations
Driver Updates
we will need to find and update driver for laptop to work correctly, and also for them to connect to the internet etc… we expect this to take 1 hr each PC for Driver installation and findings, if all PC’s are the exact same model this will cut down the time to 30 minutes each PC.
Hardware
We will give recommendation of hardware and software to optimize your PC performance. The hardware will be at market price.

 
Summary
Total Estimated time Per Computer is 4 hours. We charge 20$ an hour for general PC upgrades/updates/configuration changes.

4hr x 10 PC = 40 HRS x 20$ = Estimated Cost of 800 USD.

We will need a document signed from you and faxed back to us, or emailed. This document will state what is and what is not promised by our services.

We can have two people working on this job for you over a weekend, they will have multiple monitors and keyboards/mouse setup for this job, and that is why we have lower hours for computers than what would normally take because they can work on multiple computers at once.

Also at the time of arrival we can discuss if you want to go with any upgrades for the PC’s Like RAM. But in the meantime look this over and get back to me if you would like to pursue this.
