4 broken RAM sticks? That would be highly unlikely, unless they were subject to static electricity or physically broken, which would neccessitate peripheral damage. No reinstall should be required after changing RAM anyway.

It just occurred to me, as I ran SFC, that I didn't re-install Windows after having my 4 broken memory chips replaced... oh lawds, format time ?
I used to get up to 3 BSOD's a day with those broken chips

I checked my reg keys and they all seemed ok (i wasn't comparing to the site)
The text and bitmaps are pulled from shell32.dll, but it passes the sfc check, so im assuming its OK? it's md5 hash is ca34f2478b2b0ea172cfc8a97b2dc4c5, could anyone see if this is correct? Also, I think i'll make a registry backup and dump a fresh copy of all those keys on my system and see if it changes anything.

Edit: I think I'll just leave. You guys seem all to work for Microsoft, accusing me of having a pirated / cracked copy of Windows, attempt to install malware on my computer, and tell me to go somwhere else.
To get Folder Properties > View tab options to look like yours, there's some serious registry hacking involved. No OEM manufacturer would change all options and write them using that geek lingo, no OEM manufacturer would add SuperHidden and WebViewBarricade to options. And, as mentioned before, those screenshots are not in any case from original, genuine Windows 7 downloaded from MSDNAA.
I believe your issue is rather because of too much hacking involved than not reinstalling.
That being said, yes I think it would be best to reinstall using original, valid Windows 7 install media.

I did not suggest you download anything at all, but the registry files in that script contain the same references as are in your folder options, and the explanation that the virus "freezes" folder options is exactly what you came here asking about.

Fact: You are telling us you have original and genuine MSDNAA version of Windows 7.
Fact: You are telling this said Windows is in no way personalized using registry hacks or third party apps.
Fact: The screenshots you provided are not from a Windows version you say you have, especially if it is in no way hacked.
Conclusion: you are not the only one leaving. This is useless waste of time.
