    Partition hard drive help?!?!

Ok so i just defragged my computer twice the first time when i went into my computer manager it would only let me partition 2.7 gigs of space in a new drive. Then it wouldnt let me partition anymore drives saying something about defragging. So i defraged my computer and went back and tried to partition more of the drive and the second time it would only let me partition 2.3 gigs out of 60 gigs of free space.. Im tryin to reformat my computer and i want a bigger partition so i can store my music and videos while i format my hard drive is there any way that i can get around this cause it says i cant partition anymore and im pretty stumped? Thanks!

This might be a big stick approach, but you might like to try booting Windows (from your install disk, select boot with command prompt, and then running diskpart.

Select your disk, delete any partitions then type CLEAN.

This wipes all partition and format data from the disk and you should be able to recreate partitions properly after that.

Of course, you'll be reinstalling windows and applications.

If you don't want to go there, and I guess that is a lot of work.. then I'm sorry, I don't know the answer.

Have you had a look at the Tutorials here, there are plenty there to help you with partitioning, here's one to start you off there are others depending on what you want to do.
