Task Manager

For some reason, when I call up this utility, it only displays one screen, the first which lists applications. There are no tabs for the other screens (it doesn't even have the min-restore-close buttons either). It has been this way for a few weeks, because I haven't found it critical enough to take to "task", because I do have Process Explorer to use. I do not have the option in Process Explorer selected for it to replace the Task Manager, so I doubt that it is the cause of the problem.

I know the general steps for a problem such as this...System Restore, Repair Install, etc., but I was hoping that something simpler might do the trick?

you could always try a system file check.

The sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) scans the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible.

Just tried that. Weird that it does that.

You could actually double click anywhere in the border nearest the outside border to make it go back and forth.

Sort of like when you have it on the Performance Tab, and double click that to make it into a gadget sort of.

Actually, it does it on any tab you're on.

Just to add some trivial information:

The feature to hide menus and tabs by double clicking the area outside the inner border has been in Task Manager at least since XP. In Seven you can also double click an empty spot inside that border to minimize Task Manager to Taskbar (works only from Applications tab).
