    Cannot shrink partition -strange message

Tried to shrink my C on my new Vaio Laptop and get the message below. C is on a SSD. Anybody have a clue what this could be. Have already set the Virtual Disk Manager to automatic, but still the same.

Have you tried starting the Virtual Disk Manager service after setting it to Automatic? Does it start up normally or get an error? If an error is received, what is it?

Does it work if you try to shrink any other drives?

That is the only drive/partition I have. It's a laptop. Brand new. Just put the SSD in and took the HDD out. Else it works perfectly. Installed many programs, made video captures, did Power Point shows, etc.

I can use Partition Wizard to do the job. But I am wondering why it is coughing.

Disabling Disk Defragmenter will disable virtual drive manager.

If you disabled the defragger for SSD temporarily enable it to do the shrink or use PW CD.
