If hardware is the problem it means that native Windows 7 drivers are the cause. If we could identify the hardware then we could get him to Install Windows 7 in safe mode it's worked wonders for me before.

When installing win7 did it get stuck at a certain point? If so how long did you wait before pulling the plug? It appears that you can wait 5 to 10 mins before it carries on loading.
its not me just so you know.
Though, we installed it, it went to do its reboot (as its suppose to) and then the Hard Drive started making a loud noise.
The screen came up, but it was all black with the Watermark in the lower right-hand corner. Stays like that. The loud noise went away after the Hard Drive became idle.
Yes I knowits not me just so you know.
Its just that, that happened to one of my installs recently on another Asus based pc, and it stayed at that point for nearly 10mins before it carried on. I almost gave up, but left it running just to make certain.
Mind you the hard drive shouldn't be making loud noises. Maybe he ought to try another hdd if he can, just to make certain.
Odder things have happened, lol. With MS products anything can happen. But does point to a hdd problem, given the abnormal noise.
