I'll say that the gadget lie. Install some program like everest or speccy to check that.
Also you can do that in Command Prompt.
Start->Run->cmd.exe . There type systeminfo. You'll see there. :)
Impossible to tell. Both are telling you have 2 GB RAM installed.
The gadget then shows also how much you are currently using and how much is free, and how much virtual memory is available. The OS screenshot on the right tells absolutely nothing else of your RAM than that you have 2 GB installed. It does not show how much RAM is used or available, nor does it show how much virtual memory is used or available.

You have 2 GB of RAM installed plus an additional 4 GB of virtual memory. You seem to have a 64-bit Windows 7, so I would buy at least 2 more GB's of RAM to get most out of it.
