    Blacked out forms

Recently I am finding blacked out pages. They show up on items like HELP flyouts where the active screen is all black. Also happened on activation pages for software
and the opening screen on Corel Draw X5.
is this caused by Aero or something gone wrong with display?

It happens only on interactive things where typing or clicking is involved.

Welcome to Seven Forums ozman. This is usually related to 3rd party themes. Try this:

Right click on desktop> Personalize> Window color at bottom> Advanced appearance settings

    Try the Application background

OR, if no help, perhaps the Window

Note your original settings so you can change back if no help. Let us know. A Guy

Tried Application, Window and rebooted but no change.
I had the slider set to full strength on window colors and moved it to full transparency but nothing changed there either.

Sounds like some of the appearance items in system advanced have been unchecked if transparency isn't working properly.
The first thing I would do though it just pull up personalization and try setting it back to the default win 7 theme.

I clicked basic W7 theme which looked like what I normally have but the Color and Appearance panel
seems to have a mind of its own.
At present the Inactive Window, Active Window and Message box have blank check boxes at top right.
Firefox crashed and won't restart. Spybot Help Index still solid black.

is there are a 'normal' regimen for this panel?

Did you install a 3rd party theme? I'd suggest running the System File Checker and return your Windows to it's correct state:

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    thanks to all who replied

I've never knowingly installed any third party ware other than Webshots and have no idea where this black square mess originated.
Trying to adjust Aero just got worse so I used Restore to go back and have been downloading lost stuff ever since.
