Hello Michael,

If you do not have the calc.exe file listed in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, then here is a copy of it in a ZIP file below.

Be sure to save the ZIP file to your desktop first, extract the calc.exe file to the desktop, unblock it, then copying it to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Thanks Brink

My calculator broke when I changed the display settings to 125% (the end of last year).
It didn't recover when I changed the display settings back to 100%.

Thanks for the file Brink.

The Problem Persists

That didn't actually fix the problem.

This is a picture of the calculator at 125%.
The replacement file does the same thing at 100% (the same as my currently installed calculator).

Is there:
  • A Registry setting that has to be changed?
  • A dll that must be replaced?
BTW, I can't copy the file to that location (owned by Trusted Installer).

I tested Calculator at 125 DPI on my system, and it's not doing that.

Did you change you fonts and/or for them to be bold instead of default?

Customised Theme

I tried resetting the theme and rebooting my PC:
  • Windows 7 Aero
  • Windows 7 Basic
It made no difference.

Only the Statistics display works properly.

It's not a critical problem (I thought that I might try to fix the Windows calculator).

I have a replacement calculator (Moffsoft FreeCalc).
In some ways it seems better than the standard Windows calculator.
