Icon changes when pinned to taskbar A perfectly good shortcut icon will becoma a generic icon when pinned to the taskbar (see pic). Is there any cure for that?

Hello Wolfgang,
If you had moved or deleted the shortcut from the desktop after you had pinned it to the taskbar, then it's icon would turn like that since the link between them is broken.
As a test, see if right clicking directly on that program's exe file and clicking on "Pin to taskbar" may keep it's icon instead. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

Shawn, I did not delete the shortcut from the desktop. But the funny thing is, the program.exe has the same generic icon. Only the desktop shortcut comes out right - is also correct in Properties > Change Icon. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway - 2 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista and Windows7, sometimes Ubuntu and Fedora CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to 2.5GHz Quad Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse terrible devices, who wants them Hard Drives 5x HDD, 2x SSD, 6x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 |

What program is that?
I'll do some playing with it to see if it does the same for me as well. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built custom OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Intel i7-980X 3.3 Ghz (3.48 Ghz OC'd) Motherboard ASUS P6X58D Premium Memory 12 GB (2GBx6) DDR3 PC3-16000 2000 MHz Kingston HyperX Graphics Card Sapphire HD5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Sound Card Realtek HD Audio ALC889 Integrated Chip Monitor(s) Displays 3x 27" Asus VE278Q Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution Mouse Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5500 Revolution PSU OCZ Series Gold OCZZ1000M 1000W Case Corsair Obsidian 800D Cooling Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme Copper CPU heat sink w/120 MM Hard Drives 160GB OCZ RevoDrive X2

I've had a few applications that the program.exe icon was the same generic icon and I renamed the .exe to something different and the correct icon appeared. This then allowed the correct icon to be pinned.
I really don't know why this happens. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Made OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU INTEL Core i7 3820 LGA 2011 Motherboard Gigabyte GA X79 UD5 v1.0 F12 Memory 16 GB (4 X 4GB) G-Skill Ripjaws Z DDR3 2133 Quad Channel Graphics Card EVGA GTX 460 SC 1GB Sound Card Realtek Onboard ALC898 Monitor(s) Displays Samsung BX2431 Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Microsoft Wireless Explorer Mouse PSU Corsair HX1000W Case Thermaltake Armor+ Cooling INTEL BXRTS2011LC Liquid-cooled Hard Drives OCZ Vertex 3 120GB 2.5 in.
