Cursor Lockup

I have a problem with cursor lockup at regular intervals. Hitting an arrow key twice frees it till the next time. Also when waking up the computer, The cursor has no effect on the desktop icons, then the cursor freezes for 30 seconds, then frees up.

Are you using the onboard video with your motherboard, or have you installed a video card?

Hmm if onboard was active while a secondary card was in that would have explained it for me. Apparently no one else has any good ideas either so maybe following the instructions we generally reserve for bsod's is in order to get some more system specific information.

never got that system info, the best way to trace a driver issue or problem remotely when we are without dump files, is still to have the system info/logs.

I found the problem. A tech suggested the problem might be an older accessory, like a keyboard or mouse. I didn't believe that, but had tried everything else, so, I bought a new mouse and installed it. It hasn't locked since.
