Files downloaded to desktop misplace/skip icons
Often when I'm downloading a file to the desktop, the icon will appear on the desktop but it will not be in the next icon slot.
My settings for the desktop:
View Medium icons
Uncheck: Auto arrange icons
Check: Align icons to grid
So I'll have 4 files going down the left side and then I will download another file and it will skip an "icon slot" and show up in the 6th slot. I think this is because the text for the icon is too long so windows saves the space for the text? But it is inconsistent. This is kind of annoying because with a couple rows of icons, there are usually a bunch of icon slots which are empty.
If I use "large icons" then it usually uses every slot. But when I go back to medium icons, there's a bunch of icon spaces again.
This never happened in XP. Every file icon went below the previous one in the designated grid alignment.
Does anyone else notice this? Is there a way to stop this behavior other than checking auto-arrange which is not a good option?
