How do I deny acces to a folder to all users but myself?

I've been trying to use the security tab for this new folder I'm creating, but, so help me, I don't have much knowledge of how to give and deny permissions. I'm the administrator of the computer, if knowing this is of any help.

Thank you to anyone to assists me!

    Hello Bro,

This can help show you how to "Deny" other users access to the folder and it's contents. Just be sure not to "Deny" "Everyone" since that would include your user account as well.

Permissions - Allow or Deny Users and Groups

    Hope this helps,

If you have no knowledge of it then you should not mess with deny permissions. Just give your user account permissions and remove all others.

In addition to information provided by Brink, I find that adding my own username to a folder with full access, and then removing the "Users" group is easier.

That way, if you later add more user to your system, the folder will still be accessible only by you.

Just be sure to leave the SYSTEM and ADMINISTRATORS alone...

Thank you so much for this! It's exactly the kind of information I was looking for.

There is another problem, however... How do I change the inheritance of permissions? It's stopping me from removing the Users group. :/

    Bro,

I wouldn't worry about removing user groups, and would just "Deny" only the specific user accounts that you do not want to have permissions. If they are not listed, then add them and "Deny" them.

If you remove the wrong user group, you could be included in it.

Thanks for this advice and the thread you linked me to earlier! Great help. :)

I've successfully done what I had originally intended to do, thanks to you and Dzomlija! The help is greatly appreciated.
