This happened to me, I had installed STEAM and CS:S shut down as normal, gone to bed, got up booted up my PC while I made a brew, when I returned my PC had started a recovery as apparently it didn't shut down correctly, when I got back to desktop STEAM.exe was gone along with other parts, but in C:/Programme files there was evidense of STEAM being there.

So I'm guessing this happened to you!

Odd, just make sure you create and delete restore points regular.

Also remember is only a beta type build so things go wrong!

    thanks COMMONS

you gave me a few clues...I compared the two paths that you had enumerated and found
Program : WINRAR ( very recent program)
posted into BOTH paths at exactly the same time

Program AVANT BROWSER ( very very recent programn)
Had titled folders in both paths bit contents ibn only one

    Program ZIPCAT ( old program)
Exact same contents In both paths at different times

very few entries in the "roaming path"

Basicaly the entries in the roaming path were as you suggest of the old issues, except INTERNET EXPLORER 64 BIT ( BRAND SPANKING new!). iT WAS AN EXECUTABLE!

    NOTHING AS CONSISTANT AS INCONSIStANTCIES

Thanks. You may consider removing Panda and installing Microsoft Security Essentials. That could be the problem.

    Files on Win 7 disappearing....

I've had this same problem, but it's pretty serious for me. I basically got tired of looking through all our dvds to find something to watch so I built a computer with 4tb hdd's to store everything on. Well the other day I got 2 new tb hdd's in the mail to backup a couple of the drives so I went to hook them up and copy files and on one of my hdd's an entire folder labeled kids was just gone. I looked in the trash and there wasn't anything there. I went to computer and the drive still shows it's full but there's no file. I went to folder options and checked view hidden files and folders and still nothing. Finally I took the drive out and put it on another computer and still no files so I ran a program called getdataback and found all the files on the drive. I restored them moved all files to the new hdd then formatted the old one and copied all files back over to it. Everything seems to be working ok but then I took my 32gig jump drive and was moving some files around. I left the drive in and restarted the computer after I replaced the old hdd with the new one. Went to the jump drive in my computer and all the folders were still there, but nothing was inside them!!!! In computer the jump drive still says it's full. I can't recover these files as the drive is fat32 instead of ntfs, but my god this is getting annoying. I don't wanna have to keep copying my dvd's to the computer constantly when it should work fine! XP did it for 2 years with no problems what so ever. If anyone has any help with this please please please let me know!!!!

What anti-virus are you using? Try disabling it.
