    Win7 - 2.7ghz x2 amd - winXp Game FPS

    Hi,

(( Is here a program I can find that will completely strip my Windows XP or Win7
down to bare minimal function for maximum Game performance with FPS? ))
I know tons of things I can reHastle with. But Id rather not.
(Ive tried Gamebooster 2. It does ""Decently"").

But is there anything else that would strip my fresh copy of windows down to bare basics? For maximum Frames per second on Games?

I have an Amd 2.7ghz cpu dual core 2gig ram.
For years ive run through performance tweaks to try and maximize windows performance.

I want every Frame per second I can get on games like GTA4 and Bad company 2.
I seem to get 20-30-35 FPS with WinXP and 5-10 lower with Win7, even
with all the options I could lower with Win7.

    Two questions.

Should I just stick with Win XP because my of my hardware?
Or should I be able to get the same FPS with win7?

Ive tried both multiple times. I seem to be able to hit 20-30 fps easier with WinXP.

I Wish Windows came with a "Bare bones Game Frames per second" Mode.
That stripped every @#$kn non-game related feature and every other feature that isnt needed for online gameplay.

I would rather reinstall windows every 6 months, and keep no secure data on my PC,
    than to sacrifice FPS.

Ive tried gamebooster 2. It seems to do a half grass job at stripping down unnessisary programs. But not what I call perfect.

I know it may sound bit offtopic and not exactly answer. But I would like to suggest you solution.
Buy a gaming console.. if you need only for games.
oh and I hope you use 32bit windows wth only 2GB ram.

and most important there is no perfect things

Get better hardware. That is all you can do to get better performance in games. I've personally tried all the "software" fixes and tweaks out there. Not a damn thing with help you get better performance other then better hardware. That is all there is to it. Software cannot over come hardware limitations. Stripping down Windows does absolutely nothing.

Thanks, but console controllers are so fail for fps.
I'm not repurchasing(secretly upgrading) 300 bucks worth of console every 3-4 years
    along with the PC.

If I had the cash, I would just upgrade my PC.
I wont reroute cash for hardware that is nonModable without forgoing warrenty-Eula.

If I had 200 bucks, my PC would have much better perfomance than the console.

So once again the console would be second place performance. non upgradeable.
non moddable, controller based, etc etc etc.

If I had more cash, I would buy both.

And to the other reposter, thanks for the generic "buy better hardware" response.
I never would have thought of that. Lol.

I can actually get great performance out of BFbad company2 on my hardware,
under Windows XP, that doesnt drop under 30 fps. its not the best, but it works with what I have.

    So my question was,

Is it possible to achieve the same performance with Windows 7, on my hardware.
Or should I go back to XP again.

Im going back to Xp in a few. I would just think that microsoft would be able to have a minimal mode on Win 7, that insured it ran as well as WinXP.

Im sure with better hardware, the line would be close enough that you couldnt tell.
But for the other half of the Hardware in the world. I guess that wasnt an important feature.
