Could someone explain my memory layout?

    Hello,
When I built this machine I put 2 - 2Gb dual channel chips. The CPU usage gadget shows that I have 2812 GBs of memory. CPUID shows that I have 4 GB. Might some kind member give me a quick explanation. Doesn't need to be in depth. Thanks!

The gadget is giving a false reading. Uninstall gadget then re-install gadget..

    Hello Runcle,
Thank you for stepping up to bat. I have installed and uninstalled this same gadget in at least 4 versions and it is always the same. Plus no matter pretty much how many normal apps I running, it rarely goes above 60% usage.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hi,

Have you tried another gadget? Perhaps this one is faulty?

    Hello Golden,
I must admit to no, this is the only one I have used, I use the Network Meter and sometimes the drive meter from the same source. Let me look into it, thanks for the idea. So 4 GBs set up as Dual Channel should still show as 4 Gbs?

Mmm... good point. Perhaps that is where the gadget falls over, but then surely CPUID should suffer from the same issue.....or not?

i swear by this program to check your ram its rammon by pasmark PassMark RAMMon - Identify RAM type, speed & memory timings

RAMMon is an easy to use Windows based application that allows users to quickly retrieve the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data from their RAM modules. It will allow users to identify a multitude of attributes, of which, includes the manufacturer, the clockspeed and other data of their DDR2, DDR3, XMP and EPP memory devices and even some older memory types. It uses SysInfo DLL SDK to gather the SPD attributes from RAM devices. This information provides a snapshot of the available data for each RAM module installed on the system.

    Hello to All,
I would like to thank you for your input, in reference to the OS it is 64-bit. I believe CPUID much more than I do the gadget. Just wondering if it was because of the dual channel setup.
