    Delete fonts

    Ok, well, I'm a fool.

I needed to install a font, thought I clicked just one, but somehow must have chosen all.

I have loaded over 10,000 fonts on my system.

How can I revert to just the basic font set that comes with Win7?

Deleting manually would just be too time consuming.

Is there a list of what fonts are Win7 default? Then I could highlight all and then unhighlight the ones to stay and delete the rest.

Or is there a better way to go about this?

    Hello Zoombi,

You could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you installed the fonts to remove them.

    Hope this helps,

I thought about that but this was done over a week ago and I have only just found out about it.

Have made other changes since then.

The good lady wife informs me that when she fires up her label printer it takes ages (i checked, it does). I think this may be related to the 10k+ fonts.

I just wish she told me as soon as she realised and I would have done a system restore.

    Tried that.

It doesn't delete the current fonts though.

Idea: If I deleted ALL fonts and then did this it should restore just the default fonts.

It seems so, although I am not completely sure.

Here's a list of Windows 7 fonts from a computer which has very few apps installed, so the Fonts folder should be almost "native": Fonts.txt

    I used font frenzy

Font Frenzy allows you to strip away your excess fonts and leave only the fonts that are essential to Windows, giving you the maximum performance possible.

THANK YOU all for your help.

Have gone from 14,131 fonts down to 326.

I will load others that I need as needed — ONE at a time
