Windows 7 Media Player not launching
Windows 7 Media Player (version 12) is no longer launching.
Tried with various user profiles. In a newly created user profile the 'Media Player Wizard' starts, but once complete - still no media player.
It doesn't even appear in the running programs list under task manager.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled from Programs and Features (Turn Windows features on or off).
From the Program Files\Windows Media Player folder I can run 'setup_wm.exe' and get the following message:
There is a more recent version of Windows Media Player (12.0.7600.16667) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (12.0.7600.16385) to install files or to repair your current version of the Player.
I don't use system restore in Windows, but regularly create Acronis Drive Images, but Acronis has failed me and am reluctant to reinstall Windows again!
Look forward to hearing your replies.
