I know what you mean!

So, burn an ISO of Puppy Linux 5.2, boot up your Windows box with Puppy, mount the drives/partitions and see what's there...much less frustration than Windows Explorer. Post back what is there.

You won't be able to see the contents of those oem partitions with windows explorer - you probably won't be able to do much with windows disk management.

Depending upon the oem partition ID: ( and assuiming you don't want to go so far as changing the partition type )

Partition wiz will probably let you see the contents.

Paragon (free) will probably let you see and copy out the contents. (Under the Archives Tab - top right window is volume explorer )

Did exactly as you instructed, launched it and right clicked and no option but help. I think we have taken this as far as I can go. So I am ready to partition and get this show on road. Made recovery disks

Restate what you think you want to do.

Partition what? For what purpose?

What do you want to end up with?

You have 3 partitions now.

If all you want is a 4th partition, that is easily done by shrinking the current C.

Thanks Greg for the Partition Magic explore idea. The mystery of just what is in the two partitions in question is shown in the attached screen shots. The 1.46BG partition appears to be a System Recovery and the 10.65GB partition is the Toshiba Total System Restore Partition. Hope this helps.

Objective of my wanting to partition

If you were a wood worker and suddenly someone stole your tools you could not do what you enjoyed doing.
I had XP with extended partition and 4 logical. I enjoyed Suse, ubuntu, and the 3rd was my switch over for new distros. The 4th was a data partition.
New Toshiba confusing HD and inability to enjoy my hobby (Linux) In addition I communicate with over 50 linux users from all over world and now I have absolutely nothing in common with them.
That is why I want to partition

My advice and this is not from a youngster is buy yourself another hdd (there cheap) partition it the way you want and put 3 versions of linux on it and leave the other hdd the way it is. My 2 cents

What is stopping you from shrinking C and making another partition from that new space?

Where has my ram disappeared? :P As you can see there is no process using the RAM, and task manager shows the same list with the box ticked to show all processes from all users. This happens when installing bigger programs normally to disk.
