Default Account selected at Logon screen- Change? Hello,
BAsically, I've 2 accounts:
Admin- 'A', Standard- 'S'.
When the logon screen appears, the admin account 'A' is selcted by default i.e. a border surrounding the username, everytime I've to manually select my account and enter password.
I just want my account 'S' to be highlighted by default when the logon screen appears. Is it possible? Would appreciate any help.
And no, i don't want to use the automatic login option. Just what I mentioned above.
Thanks & Regards
Ezio

yeah, I just looked for you as well, I see nothing that really addresses that screen, only for setting it to the old win2k style login. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Insane hobo technologies. ;-) OS Windows 7 x64 sp1 CPU Intel i7 2600k Motherboard Asrock z68 extreme 4 gen 3 Memory G.skill Ripjaw 16gigs @ 1866 Graphics Card Nvidia gtx580 (evga) Sound Card Integrated HD audio + hdmi Monitor(s) Displays 24" ASUS widescreen + 42" insignia Screen Resolution 1080p (1920x1080) Keyboard Microsoft wireless 3000 (v2) Mouse MS - wireless 5000 (bluetrack) PSU 1 kilowatt SLI/Crossfire rated Silverstone modular Case NZXT Phantom + additional 220 fan Cooling Air. FWIW: something tells me that one of the choices will always be highlighted due to the requirement to login. I don't know of any way to make it the second selection.
You might be able to change the name so that the sort order will be the one you want first. It looks like the A's come before the S's.
give it a shot.

rich Yep, that was my guess too that usernames are sorted alphabetically. But I haven't tried renaming my standard acoount 'S' yet as I fear if something (user profile very likely) may get screwed-up | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HCL OS Winbdows 7 ultimate x64 | Ubuntu 12.04 x64 LTS CPU Core 2 Duo e7400 @ 2.90GHz Motherboard Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Asus Nvidia GTX 560Ti 1GB Sound Card On-board Monitor(s) Displays HCL eZeeBee 18.5" LCD Screen Resolution 1366x768 @ 60Hz Keyboard Stock Mouse Stock PSU Corsair CX500 V2 500W Cooling Stock Hard Drives Western Digital 320GB Internet Speed 15-25kBps D/L | 10kBps U/L | Hey Don't laugh |

create a new adminstrator account starting with ZZZ so that you can get back in if necessary.
Give that a shot and rename the others..

Rich,
So you mean to create a new admin account and name it something. If all the three account appears in an alphabetical wise, it means that I'll have to rename my standard account to something starting with A to get it selected by default. Is that right? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HCL OS Winbdows 7 ultimate x64 | Ubuntu 12.04 x64 LTS CPU Core 2 Duo e7400 @ 2.90GHz Motherboard Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Memory 3GB DDR2 Graphics Card Asus Nvidia GTX 560Ti 1GB Sound Card On-board Monitor(s) Displays HCL eZeeBee 18.5" LCD Screen Resolution 1366x768 @ 60Hz Keyboard Stock Mouse Stock PSU Corsair CX500 V2 500W Cooling Stock Hard Drives Western Digital 320GB Internet Speed 15-25kBps D/L | 10kBps U/L | Hey Don't laugh |

Hello Ezio,
Rich is correct that the accounts will appear in alphabetical order, but only in order from the user account's original name on the log on screen. If the account is renamed, it will still retain it's original order at log on and will not change as Jav posted below.
