Default Account selected at Logon screen- Change?

    Hello,

    BAsically, I've 2 accounts:

    Admin- 'A', Standard- 'S'.

When the logon screen appears, the admin account 'A' is selcted by default i.e. a border surrounding the username, everytime I've to manually select my account and enter password.

I just want my account 'S' to be highlighted by default when the logon screen appears. Is it possible? Would appreciate any help.

And no, i don't want to use the automatic login option. Just what I mentioned above.

    Thanks & Regards

    Ezio

I don't know if this is possible, but if a setting for it exist it would be in the logon and/or security policies.

yeah, I just looked for you as well, I see nothing that really addresses that screen, only for setting it to the old win2k style login.

Seems that its not possible at all.. Our Genius Alien member (its a compliment if your reading Brink, , Brink too doesn't seem to know of any method other than auto-login which I don't want.

FWIW: something tells me that one of the choices will always be highlighted due to the requirement to login. I don't know of any way to make it the second selection.
You might be able to change the name so that the sort order will be the one you want first. It looks like the A's come before the S's.

    give it a shot.

Yep, that was my guess too that usernames are sorted alphabetically. But I haven't tried renaming my standard acoount 'S' yet as I fear if something (user profile very likely) may get screwed-up

create a new adminstrator account starting with ZZZ so that you can get back in if necessary.
Give that a shot and rename the others..

    Rich,
So you mean to create a new admin account and name it something. If all the three account appears in an alphabetical wise, it means that I'll have to rename my standard account to something starting with A to get it selected by default. Is that right?

    Hello Ezio,

Rich is correct that the accounts will appear in alphabetical order, but only in order from the user account's original name on the log on screen. If the account is renamed, it will still retain it's original order at log on and will not change as Jav posted below.
