    No sticky notes?

    Hi,

I just developed a need for the sticky note function, but it's nowhere to be found. I searched for sticky, and sticky notes, in the Start menu - nothing. It's not listed on the Windows components list either.

I must be the only one without sticky notes!

    Hello Paul,

Double check to make sure that you have Tablet PC Components turned on (checked) in Windows Features to have Sticky Notes available.

You should be able to open it in the Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, and Sticky Notes; or at C:\Windows\system32\StikyNot.exe afterwards.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Brink,

I suspected that might be related, so I did check that Tablet features is checked. It is.

Hmmm.. I may have to go back to a string around my finger...

    Thanks,
    p.

    You're welcome.

Were you able to open Sticky Notes?

If not, then the free program Stickies would be a great alternative with more features.

Browse to c:windows\system32\stikynot, rightclick and Pin to taskbar and start menu.

No, Sticky Notes is nowhere to be found.

Thanks for the referral. I'll check Stickies out. But it's odd that I don't have the indigenous model.

I think Stickies is what I used on my last machine. Looks great. Thanks again,

    Paul

Yeah, Stickies is a great little program. :)

If you still wanted the Sticky Notes included in Windows 7, then you could try unchecking Tablet PC Components, restart the computer, check Tablet PC Components, restart the computer, then see if it's available.

You nailed it, Greg. Thanks much. I think Brink might be right about the feature set though. I'll see how much I use this.

    Thanks to both of you!

That's a good idea, Brink. Chances are some link got hosed with all the tumult this machine has been through, and a good jog might wake it up.

I started fumbling around for the weird way Win7 spells StikyNOT before Shawn posted the file location.

They are an improvement on Vista because you can resize them but that's about it.
