Hello,
I guess I need a way to copy my current C drive to a new drive so that the new drive can replace the C drive. Or perhaps there’s some alternate way to replace the C drive with a newer and larger drive.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You want to get some software and clone your drive. Some of the commercial apps like Acronis have this option. Another solution would be to image with something like Acronis or Macrium (free) and then lay the image back on the new drive and then go into the disk management console and expand the drive to fill up the remaining space.
If you have WD or Seagate HD involved, they have a free version of Acronis' premium cloning app on their Support Downloads webpages. The Manual is easy to read and there, too.
If you can't hook up both HD's at once to clone, then use the imaging feature in one of those apps, Win7 Backup Imaging, Macrium Reflect or Paragon 11 - all free and recommended.

You could just leave your old drive in and install your new drive. Then install any new programs, on to your new drive. That is if you are not having any problems with your old drive. I've done this and it works great for games. Also unistall other programs and install them on to your new drive. Only install driver and anti virus/spyware pro rams on to the old drive. That way when you make a back up of your boot drive it isn't overly large. Or go with the other suggestions if your old drive is coming out.

I don't see a demo of 2011 Backup and Recovery at Paragon. Maybe no link just yet?
Is there a document around that names the functionality missing in the demo versions?
Or do you find out only by trial and error?
As long as you are moving to a HDD the same size or larger it's very simple.
I did it with the inbuilt Windows imaging but products like Macrium will also work (with Macrium you need to image 100MB system reserved if you have one and say YES to MBR replace).
With Windows imaging
1) Image old disk to ext HDD
2) Replace old HDD with new HDD (no prep). Do NOT leave both connected.
3) Boot with System Repair Disk or install DVD and reimage to new HDD
JOB DONE.

I think that function is only in the HDM 11 Suite and the free backup and recovery 11 atm.
Quite surprising it is in the free offering - they don't make it very obvious - just a vague mention of Support for the latest hardware as well as hard disk partitioning schemes.
Not sure tho. they may have it in other products.
