It seems your video card cannot handle Screen Saver Themes. Desktop themes are far less complex. I would go onto the video card manufacturer's website and see if you can get any info there. Also is there a Forum for your make of PC, Acer is a regular make so there might be "An Acer users Forum"!

    Hi mitchell65,

Alright, I'll check those avenues. Hopefully someone might have an explanation for this situation.
Thanks again for all your help.

OK But I think the explanation is clear. You did say you bought this PC at a bargain price! This is probably the explanation. If you start another thread in the appropriate section of this Forum someone will recommend a suitable video card to you. i really think this is all you can do now!

    Hi mitchell65,

From the NVIDIA forum I was presented with a link to a past discussion on my problem.
Seems this was also around a long time ago. They talk at a higher level than I can deal with but I am still digging in to sort it out.
I thought you might be interested in the "past" discussion, so here is the link:

Well I have just gone all through this thread twice and whilst there was a couple of posts where people had temporary success there does not appear to be a robust solution. I concluded that the census of opinion was a compatibility issue with Windows 7 and some video cards. I still think your best permanent solution would be to fit a new video card.

    Hi mitchell65,

To all those who were following this thread, I was successful in solving my problem "Screen Saver (Full Screen)".

If one goes to Control Panel, then go to System & Maintenance, then look for Performance Information & Tools.
In there one can update their Window Experience Index, in my case: Graphics.
It was set at 1.0. After the update it was 6.6.
Visit this site to see explanation:
"This computer's video card can't play themes" Message in WLPG Screensaver Settings Dialog - The Winhelponline Blog

    It worked perfect for me.
    Good luck

    Cheers,
