Windows 7: taskbar complaints

i restarted into safe mode to fix something and saw that the show desktop button located in the bottom right hand corner had the desktop icon on it and couldnt help but notice that it looks better that way, you know like an extra icon in the taskbar but on the right the clock instead of the left. maybe im just being picky but does anyone know how to get the icon there without safe mode? if not, all well, im sure someone will figure out a way to do it eventually.
