Windows 7: Help ! W7 expires in 3 days :(

I have version 6.1 ( 7000 ) and its gonna expire July 1st.

Is there anything i can do to keep it ?

ps - I have already bought a legit Windows 7 for october ....

Has your machine started to shutdown every couple of hours? The one thing you can do is to download a RC (release candidate) build 7100 or higher (current is 7260) and that doesn't expire till 2010.

thanks Ken, no it hasnt started that yet.

If i download a newer version, does that mean I have to re-format my hard drive again ?

Any recommendations on where to find a newer version ?

A fresh install would be need so yes a reformat again..

The best one if you want a full working mostly bug free is the RC

Microsoft may still allow Rc downloads Link here

And you don't need to format , you can upgrade by following the instructions here

First go to sstart>search and type winver. If it says 7000 you will need to download a newer version. I dont know if you are 32bit or 64 but some kind sould here has the link for either.
vis-a-vie formatting. It is always preferred but you can upgrade from 7000>7100 or higher.
Also you will need to get a RC key from MS, also free at the download link.

I recommend to install the last build for your system, x86/x64, you'll be better.

7232 is a definite improvement over 7100, and in my case over every other build.

If you are gonna game I'd recommend using the rc or the 7127 build.Punkbuster will not get you kicked in these builds.
