Graphic Shared Memory

Hi,
Windows 7 x64, by default assigns some RAM for Graphics, even if we install a 1GB or 2GB high-end VGA card!
How can I disable this action?
I really don't want to lose some RAM for graphics, specially when it's really not needed!
I have assembled some high-end systems with 2 GB of VGA memory and 8 GB of RAM, but Windows 7 still deduct some RAM for VGA!!!
Please help.

You are not losing any RAM to this. Only in those cases when the motherboard/chipset does not support Memory Remapping will the graphics card eat away some of the address space.

The designation of RAM to shared video memory is down to the BIOS and the video hardware you use. To check if Windows has allocated system memory to shared video memory right-click the desktop, select 'Screen Resolution' then click 'Advanced Settings'

How to prevent?
The problem is with mainboard or VGA? So in the future I select good ones!

Hi usvpn, you have to set shared ram to zero in BIOS. It doesn't depends on good or bad stuff.

Of course PCI Express, for example 5830 ATI, I assemble some many systems in a month and in all cases I use a dedicated VGA card, this always happens!

You can set the amount of shared memory in setup for on-board graphics, and not for dedicated graphics.
This is a Windows 7 settings, since in XP it's not like that!
