Any version XP or Vista to Win 7 Pro

Can someone legally move from a version of Windows XP or Vista to a different version of Windows 7. For example could I legally move from Windows XP Home to Windows 7 Professional.

Does Microsoft require that I have XP Pro or Vista Pro to move to Win 7 Pro?

I called MS the other day and they told me that any version of XP could go to any version of 7

Exactly as long as it is a clean install, upgrades as you know have certain restrictions.

Thanks for the replies. Still it would be best if we could get this information in writing from Microsoft. Any Microsoft links verifying this would be appreciated.

The MS site doesn't talk about the restrictions from XP to win 7. but check out the thread I wrote called 'for all those concerned about buying the upgrade disks'. I had called MS 4 times verifying different data, and the MS rep told about the situation for XP.
