"New Folder" button in Windows 7 Pro (64) won't create a new folder??!

Hi good people!

Sporadically, but more often times than no, the "New Folder" button along the top of a Windows Explorer window in Windows 7 Pro 64, will NOT create a new folder!

I click on it til I'm blue in the face.... and nothing!

I can right click and create a new folder in the same window with the right mouse button flyout... but I want to make a new folder by simply clicking on the "New Folder" button at the top of the window.

Can you please help me figure out why this function is not [usually] working??

It seems to be fairly widespread. Is this something that has been somewhat of a 'problem area' with Windows 7??

I also have the SAME problem with the 'Burn Button' when I want to burn a disk..... I click on the button and nothing happens, yet I can 'right/click' and then select the 'burn' option from the flyout and it works that way....

I'll give the link a try and report back.

Thanks Dwarf - got it. Should I set my other two internal hard-drives so that they can have a restore point too? Or should I just be doing this with my C / boot drive? Thanks.

You should run (Command prompt with Admin priviliges)
run chkdsk xPut your own designator in there - C?) /f - as Administrator (from an Elevated command prompt). It will take a while, but I think will solve your problem with new folders.
