I ordered the same version as you for the same reasons. I thought $50 was a pretty nice deal. I ordered mine from the MS store. I won't get the disks but I think I'll be able to get my key sooner than if I had to wait for the disks to arrive in the mail.

I ordered mine through Amazon, no shipping and no sales tax. I could not forego such a great deal. Although, I am anxious to get started, I will not install immedialty after receipt, I plan to wait a while, until the hot fixes arrive.

Darn, I should have bought from Amazon and saved on the sales tax. Oh well . . .

The RC is already good enough for me (been using one or another of the builds as my sole OS for months already) so I certainly don't see a need to wait for any fixes or service packs. This is not your usual release from MS.

I don't think MS is going to be releasing any keys to people who pre order Win 7 before Oct. 22nd.

I imagine harpua is correct. MS likely won't release keys until 10/22. With any luck, retailers will ship the purchased DVDs so they arrive on that date...

Also bought the Home Premium upgrade through Amazon...applied 25$ gift 'card' and only paid a final price of $24.99! Can't beat that. No tax, no shipping... But if you want to pay for shipping, they guarantee it will arrive on release day.

I order quite a bit from Amazon. So, I'm an Amazon Prime member and we get free 2-day shipping ($3.99 overnight shipping). For the Windows 7 Upgrades, we get the free 2-day shipping, but will receive it by October 22. And yes, no tax as well.

I went with Professional for my PC, but got Home Premium for our kids PC. If it wasn't for XP Mode (XPM) which is free for Professional users, I probably would have settled for Home Premium myself and saved $50. That said, I want Ultimate for Boot from VHD functionality, but it isn't worth the premium IMHO. Not in my case.

If you are rich, ultimate. but if you arent you should go with Home premium you can preorder win 7 upgrade DVD's right now (Only in US and Canada for the moment) home premium for 50$ and Pro. for 99$.
