    Windows evaluation copy

I down loaded IE9 which failed miserably. Cant recover to old version. The problem was I had to download and run WindowsActivationUpdate.exe

My vesion of windows is genuine but now I have
Windows evaluation copy text on my desktop and no way of validating to remove it.

    Hi,

What happens when you navigate to

    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/val...te&Product=Wga

If you are 100% certain that you copy of Windows 7 is genuine then the above link should resolve your issue

This link fails and brings up search engine results, not a MS web page.

The link should work on any browser.

    Try

    Genuine Microsoft Software

or do a google search for "windows 7 validation"

Where and when did you get the Win7 installed upon your computer? How was it activated?

If you ever used software like mywat (I think that is its name) or other activation modifications, do a sfc /scannow to remove it and get the proper activation files back in place. You don't need any of that on your computer if you have a legit key.

Type winver in the search box of your start menu and then run it. What does it show for version number? More importantly, what does it show in regards to SP1. I believe anything but the finale release will put a watermark on your screen. Hitting the windows key and the pause/Break key should also get you similar info.
