Multiple Phantom Drives

For some reason i noticed when i went to attach a file to an email that my computer thinks it has local drives G: - Z: which dont show up in the device manager or in my computer. now i know the Q: is from office 2010 beta which i have uninstalled but it didnt go away but this phenomenon is preventing my from plugging in more than one external drive whether it be a flash drive, external hard drive, or even SD cards etc. is there anyway to get rid of these phantom drives? it says all of these drives need formatted and are the size of the entire hard drive...

They do not show up in My computer, disk manager, only when i try to upload a file to something. although while looking in my computer i did notice it has a second cd-rom drive which i am on a laptop and only have one dvd-rom drive.

Thinking out loud here...

It sounds like you may have mounted CD/ISO files, thus they become a drive. Removing/unistalling the original may not remove the drive letter assignment. I'll have to think about this some more but maybe this will get an expert to thinking as well.

well i haven't installed any programs that mount virtual drives such as poweriso or virtualbox... i do however have windows vista 64 bit installed on a separate partition but i dont see why that would effect my windows 7 partition... this is also on a laptop computer if that has any relevance at all...
