Windows 7 SP1 on x64 Laptop

I have just been trying to setup my system with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. When I ran it all appeared OK but various system commands failed to work correctly, so I reloaded Ultimate, loaded my chipset drivers then loaded SP1. Before loading SP1 I ran a check to see how long it took from switch on to the log on screen, this was 53.78 seconds. After loading SP1, I did the same check again and this time it took 98.13 seconds.

Does anyone know why the boot time has nearly doubled?

I did check that my system was running at it full rate (M15X's have Stealth Mode which reduces CPU speed to 50% of max) and it was OK.

I have seen notes on MS Technet re problems with 64bit machines so is this a problem we can sort or is it a problem with SP1 itself?

You need to boot the computer a few times so it can optimize and cache.
It needs time to optimize your computer.
