    Help Needed


    I had just done a fresh install on a new machine 15 days ago. I had registered my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit @ microsoft site. Now my system has virus @ the anti virus has started to act very strangely. telling me to re-inatall the Anti virus + Office 2007.

    If I do so will my OS be legal? My system is acting up strangely. Pl. help. email to REMOVED

    If you suspect malware, download and run free malwarebytes antimalware. Let it clean whatever it wants to.

    Do you have genuine windows? Reinstalling the AV or Office has nothing to do with OS activation/validation.

    What is your antivirus?

    I would say that if you have just installed the system and don't have a whole lot of files there - just re-install, but wipe the drive before you do so. Your Windows copy will have to be activated again, but your license key should still be valid.

    Edit: the above assumes that you have a valid license key in your possession.

    I'm not sure what you are asking, to be honest. If your license is legal right now, then any of the above steps will still keep your license legal. I've seen people suggest the crazy idea that they need a new license each time they install, but that's not true. If you need to wipe your drive clean and reinstall, your legit key will work again just fine.
