    may i purge the Prefetch folder?


    hi

    sometime under w7 i had to purge/delete all the file inside the Prefetch folder

    reboot ,use the pc and after the second reboot , the pc is faster

    i was used to do one every 5 months

    could i do in w7?

    Yes, you can delete the contents from the Prefetch folder but it won't make your PC to "go faster".

    There never was a reason to purge Prefetch. You should leave it alone.

    No it won't...Prefetch files are an index not the actual executable files themselves. There is no reason to clear it. Prefetch and SuperFetch do not store copies any where. If the files a virus uses are gone, they are gone.

    The simple answer is yes, you can purge prefetch without issues.
    There is no real reason other than clearing out old data, no other reason.
    If you have a cleanup tool that does it, there i no reason to tell it not to clean it.
